Wire Heating Elements
Furnaces and ovens with operating temperatures to 2300°F are designed with wire heating elements in 2 styles: wire wound in holders or wire-on-rod. Both are easily replaced without contacting/removing/damaging furnace chamber insulation.
Wire Wound in Holders:
Wire wound heating elements in removable holders consist of heavy gauge resistive wire coiled and secured in holders. Simply unbolt and slide out the old holder with wire and slide in and secure the new element assembly. These elements are sold as complete assemblies. Element lead wires exiting through the insulation should be protected with Ceramic Feed Throughs (CFT's).
Wire On Rod:
Wire on rod heating elements are arranged with the coils mounted individually on ceramic rods. Wire and rods elements are mounted on ceramic support posts. Wires, rods and support posts can each be ordered individually. Ceramic Feed Throughs (CFT's) insulate and protect the lead wires that pass through the furnace insulation. CFT's come in 6" lengths and can be ordered individually.
Ceramic Feed Throughs (CFT's) insulate and protect the lead wires that pass through the furnace insulation. CFT's come in 6" lengths and can be ordered individually.
Element Clips are used to secure heating element assemblies in a furnace. Element clips are high temperature threaded alloy rods which extend through the insulation and are secured against the outside of the furnace shell. Element clips can be ordered individually.
Silicon Carbide Elements
Silicon Carbide heating elements are used in furnaces at higher temperatures (HS, 3027, 3029 Series). These rod shaped elements are available in varying lengths and diameters.
Parts can be ordered individually.
Element Straps are flexible electrical connectors for connection between silicon carbide elements.
Terminal clamps are fasteners used to secure element straps to the elements.
Molybdenum Discilide (MoSi2) Heating Elements
For Series 6000 furnaces can be ordered individually. Availability 2-3 weeks
Thermocouples
Thermocouples sense the temperature inside a furnace chamber and communicate with the controller. Thermocouples should be replaced every six months to a year, depending on use, to maintain accuracy, properly heat treat your workload, and extend the life of heating elements. Over time thermocouples lose their ability to accurately sense temperature.
Open Style Thermocouples
Type (K) thermocouples are used in Lucifer air models up to 2300°F. Available in 6”, 9” & 12” lengths - 8 gauge or 14 gauge. Availability: In stock
Sheathed Thermocouples
Type (K) , (R) and (S) thermocouples protected in a ceramic sheath with a threaded fitting are are used in Lucifer GT atmosphere furnaces and high temperature models above 2300°F. Availability: In stock - 2 weeks
Cladded Thermocouples
Type (K) thermocouples are used inside the retort/muffle of atmosphere models. The thermocouple is protected inside an alloy sheath. These thermocouples sense the temperature inside the muffle immediately around the workload. Availability: 2 weeks
Hearth Plates:
Cast Hearth Plates
Made from high temperature cement to form a strong, dense plate.
Silicon Carbide Plates
High temperature plates used in furnace models with silicon carbide elements under the hearth and to support alloy muffles.
Ceramic Plates
Kiln-fired ceramic plates 3/4" thick are used in all Lucifer Red Devil models.
Insulation
Insulation lining the inside of the chamber is HOT FACE INSULATION and may consist of insulating firebrick, ceramic fiber boards or pyro-bloc materials. The backup layer closest to the metal shell is the COLD FACE INSULATION consisting of mineral wool material. Insulation can be replaced in part or an entire furnace can be relined.
The insulating material is dry fit in the chamber and contains NO mortar or asbestos.
Muffles
High grade alloy retorts which form the work chamber in Lucifer atmosphere (AM) models. These muffles are removable. Availability: 4-8 weeks
Muffle Collar
Ceramic fiber collar 2" thick mounted between the flange of a muffle and furnace to minimize heat loss. Availability: In stock
Door Gaskets
High temperature ceramic fiber 3/4" square gasket mounted around the perimeter of doors on atmosphere models. Gaskets should be replace regularly to insurance a positive chamber seal. Availability: In stock
Gasket Sealant
Glue to adhere door gasket. Availability: In stock
Door Relining Kit
Insulation which lines the inside of doors. This can be any combination of insulating firebrick, castable, mineral wool insulation or ceramic fiber depending on the model. Note: door containing casted cement will require mixing of water and aggregate in the field.
Fans
Lucifer convection ovens (4000 Series) and the lower chamber of Lucifer dual chamber models are equipped with a stainless steel fan. The fan shaft unbolts from the motor and is removable through the front of the chamber. Fans are made with varying shaft diameters and blade sizes.
Availability: 3-5 days
Fan Belts
V-Belt which connects the fan shaft to the motor. The belts come in various sizes.
Pillow Blocks
Bearing which holds the fan shaft.
Liners
The stainless steel liner which forms the work chamber and directs air flow in convection ovens (4000 Series) and the lower chambers of Lucifer dual chamber models. Liners can be removed through the front of the chamber. Availability: 3-5 days
Heat Treat Foil - Stainless Steel Foil Wrap
Heat treat foil (stainless steel foil wrap) protects parts when heating (hardening) in air atmosphere. By wrapping in foil, parts are protected from decarburization - oxide buildup - pitting - scaling. Heat treating parts with foil wrap is an economical process in lieu of hardening in more expensive vacuum or controlled atmosphere furnaces. To heat treat in stainless steel foil wrap, parts are enclosed in an airtight envelope.
Available in rolls 24" W x 50' L. Contact Lucifer Furnaces for pricing.
2000°F Foil wrap - .002”x 24”x 50 ft – type 321
2240°F Foil wrap - .002" x 24” x 50 ft – type 309
Latches & Swing Bolts
Lift & Turn Latches for horizontal swing doors in small (3") and large (5").
Swing Bolts for atmosphere furnaces in 5" and 6" (from eyelet to end of bolt).
Temperature Controllers
The instrument which sets the temperature of the furnace. Lucifer's standard controller is a Honeywell DC2500 1/4 Din digital instrument. These can retrofit older furnaces with analog controls or replace different brand instruments.
Contactors
Amply rated mechanical relays which supply voltage to the heating elements. The contacts open and close as the chamber heats. Contactors are located in the electrical compartment of a furnace. Caution: Disconnect all power to the furnace before opening any electrical enclosure.
